Howdy Brothers and Sisters,
I hope everyone is doing well. We have been having some nice weather lately and it's about time. Yard work here I come!!!
Well, Grand Lodge is behind us and a lot got done. We will be seeing some changes to the Washington Masonic code soon. Most of it house keeping items to bring the code up to date.
We raised Brother Gary last month and had quite a turn out. Thank you to all the brothers that attended and Thank you Bro Joe for setting it up. And a special thanks to Bro John for the nice repast afterwards, it was a great night all the way around.
We had a our 1765 Degree and Dinner night. We didn't do as well as I had hoped. We did have five Grand Masters and representatives visiting including our own Grand Master M.W. Brother Jimmy Reid. I would personally like to thank those of you would did attend, you helped make the evening a fun time.
Our July potluck is hotdogs and BBQ, so bring those suit "protectors". Keep those brothers and sisters that are ill in your prayers. We still need to keep those that are in harms way whether they are here or in foreign lands in our hearts and prayers.
Take care,
Tom K., WM
May all your travels be safe,
May the wind always fill your sails,
May your table be filled with plenty,
And may the sun keep you in its' warm embrace!
The Vikings are coming!!!
The Vikings are coming!!!

I am writing this after our stated on St. John's night. We had a nice turn out, but I got to thinking... if it were not for Jerry Burg's e-mail I probably would have completely spaced on it! Thanks Jerry! Let's figure out a way to make the June St. John's meeting something special next year. I am open for ideas.
I am also finishing up plans for next year. I would appreciate any and all input regarding things you would like to see Steilacoom Lodge doing. From guest speakers, short talks, you name it, we can certainly consider it. I really like the themed pot lucks and hope to continue that. If you are interested in an appointed office next term, please come see me. John Geier and I are setting up a line that will serve the lodge for many years to come and are looking for serious, committed brothers to fill the chairs. If you are willing to commit to being at every meeting, stated or special, memorizing your part and the part of the next chair up the line, then lets talk.
I am looking forward to the rest of the Masonic year and to continue watching Steilacoom Lodge grow and prosper.
Fraternally,
Joe Fuller
Sr Warden

Dear Brethren, Can you feel that summer weather with the beautiful days and also those “hot” days. Now to me, being I am from Oklahoma, hot means up in the high 90’s to 100 plus days where you can hear yourself sweat! My hopes are you all can be out to enjoy the wonderful weather Washington has to offer. In several lodges the code of dress is no jackets and short sleeve shirts. For the brethren of these lodges appreciate one’s attendance and want those present to be comfort and at ease. This is a great time to be a Mason! There are degrees going on in many lodges. I hope you all can go to your home lodge and see who are being made Masons. We have several petitions and will do our best to keep you informed. Just this last Tuesday, we had our stated meeting on the 24th of June in remembrance of St. John the Baptist as is set in our by-laws. Let me give you a brief summary about this man. As many know he was the forerunner of Jesus and baptized him. Now the patron saint of Freemasons was actually St. John the Evangelist, whose birthday is the 27th of December, where many lodges celebrate it and call it the minor St. John’s day. Many could be then spared from their business or profession because of the season. The other festivals they are celebrated were the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, Michaelmas and, of course St. John the Baptist. Among the peoples of many nations, it was a custom for many ages to dedicate every temple, statue, alter, public building or sacred place to some divinity, usually a saint or some outstanding character whose work for a society has been aided in its establishment. In colonial times, the Masonic Lodges in England were dedicated to the St. John while the Scotch dedicated theirs to St. Andrews. But with Masonry, for many years, it was dedicated to King Solomon for he was the first Grand Master. Later from the 11th to the 15th centuries, it was dedicated to St. John the Baptist and was known as the Lodge of the Holy Saint of Jerusalem. It was in the 15th century that St. John the Evangelist was so recognized and from that time Masonry has been dedicated to the Holy Saints, including both. Now it wasn’t till a few years ago that it was known if St. John the Baptist really had any connection with Masonry, until the discovery of the ancient scrolls of the Essenes at Qumran that he was a member of the society of Essenes and served as chaplain or priest. Now it is not definitely established that the society of Essenes was the same as Masonry, but there is a great similarity between the two, and the moral teachings of both are the same. The charity of both, as well as the practice of Brotherly Love, were identical. I hope you find this interesting. Well, my brothers, may you have an enjoyable summer and don’t get burned trying to get a tan. Just like wine, it take time. Not wanting to sound like a broken record, there is plenty of time to bring your dues up to date. And please let me know if any brother is not doing well or has passed away so we can send them a card with our concerns. Thank you. You can reach me at either my phone (253) 926-8053 (leave a message) or by email: leemonwb2@hotmail.com. And here are so food for thought. “Thoughts are rarely wordless” – Howard W. Newton “Virtue is the only true nobility” – Thomas Fuller “Man is a gregarious animal, and much more so in his mind than in his body. He may like to go alone for a walk, but he hates to stand alone in his opinions.” – George Santayana Dolpins are said to have I.Q.’s up to 100, which competes with many humans. (fact) “You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, ‘My God, you’re right! I never would have thought of that.” – Dave Barry Fun-ternally, Bro. Lee R. Webb II Secretary
