Welcome to Steilacoom Lodge # 2 Moonlighter Online!

Moonlighter for July 2004 |
VOLUME 6, ISSUE 7 |

Greetings Brethren!
A very HUGE thank you to WB Kingsbury for the great 150th Anniversary Dinner!
What a wonderful evening of camaraderie and fraternity. The food was good (I
like asparagus...), the entertainment delightful and we even got to dance a bit.
I would also like to thank those brethren that came to help us celebrate. A
lodge is ALL of its members and it was so good to see all of you there. I
believe our final attendance figure was 154! It was truly wonderful to see WB
Bill Rohrer out and about, prayer heals.
Speaking of the healing power of prayer, we owe a prayer of thanks for the
health and well-being of Brother Emmons grandbaby! A serious heart condition has
been healed by a truly exceptional surgeon and the Grace of the Almighty.
We have been just a little busy lately. Eight of us went up to Canada to the
installation of our sister lodge, Melrose 67. A wonderful time was had by all.
We had two EA degrees last night that went very well including the first use of
the electronic lecture, I have to admit that I had my trepidations, but it is a
superb product and does an excellent job. (I still plan on learning it myself,
but this is a quality lecture.)
Coming up is St. John's Night on the 24th of June. (No potluck) Our next stated
(a correction to the Tressleboard) after that is the 2nd of July. We will be
voting on a couple of petitions so please make it a point to come on out. The
theme for the potluck is Asian and is also Hawaiian shirt night! Then on the 4th
of July is our parade and booth in Steilacoom. The Masonic float will be, so
should you! If you can't march in the parade (1:00) we would love to have you at
the booth.
So, until we next meet my Brothers, take care. Enjoy the sunshine (I am told by
those with more experience in such matters that the sunshine is caused by a hole
in the cloud layer... a centennial occurrence.) and I will see you all in Lodge.
Fraternally yours,
WB Joe Fuller

History of Steilacoom Lodge #2
The Lodge gave to a lucky winner, a copy of the Masonic Works from 1868 for Washington (I think...Editor). I know the winner will enjoy and treasure this gift.

Our 150th Celebration continues this month with the 4th of July in Steilacoom. We will have a place near the bank as usual. This year the Float will be in the parade and we need a lot of Masons walking (If you can...riding if you cant) with the float. The Car being raffled by the Afifi Shrine will also be there, so make sure you buy your own tickets and sell to others tickets too. (Steilacoom Lodge will receive a donation from Afifi Shrine for each ticket we sell!)

The Cemetery is scheduled for Cleanup on August 21st starting at 9:00 AM. Bring weed eaters if you have one. We have planned for lunch and refreshments to be served.

Kaffee Klatsch
Catch the 0900 ferry in Steilacoom, wander up the hill and be prepared for hot coffee and a fresh goodie. This happens on every Tuesday! Well, almost every Tuesday! I will send e-mail to most who come on Mondays! But wait!!! Jerry is out sailing around right now...and I have learned that the Lodge building will be open for this tradition. Please continue and attend the meeting place of the Kaffee Klatsch at Steilacoom Lodge...every Tuesday at 0900. Well until Jerry returns in a couple of months!!!
I can promise you refreshments, you bring the friendship and fraternity and we all will have a fun morning. It seems that our discussions are getting increasingly interesting. Keep it up!!
Y'All Come, Y'A Hear!!!

Friday the 18th of June, we performed the EA Degree. The Worshipful Master requested that the Electronic Lecture be given this time, as he had not seen the lecture and wanted to see it in Lodge. There were quite a few others that wanted to see it also. We had a very good turn out. We even did a courtesy EA Degree for Henry A. Green Lodge #250!! I believe that a good time was had by all who attended!!!

It appears that this month, July, is a BLUE MOON Month. We have two full moons this month!

THE WORKING TOOLS OF AN E-MASON
I now present to you the Working Tools of an e-Mason. They are the Mouse, the Keyboard, and the Modem. The Mouse is to move within the desktop, the Keyboard to input data, and the Modem to publish the data to cyberspace.
However, as we are not here assembled as computer nerds, but rather as Operative e-Masons, these tools are downloaded as vehicles of a moral significance, and to show us the true meaning of e-Masonry. Thus we apply these tools as follows:
The Mouse teaches us to keep within due bounds of the screen, a square where upon we must all meet.
The Keyboard shows us that communication will lead us to a better understanding not only of each other, but with all mankind.
The Modem reminds us that even when we are alone on the most remote part of the globe, we may meet and gain moral sustenance from each other, and thus learn more of the wonderful works of the G.A.O.T.U.

Steilacoom Lodge's History for the first 100 years was published in 1952. It is therefore a challenge to all Past Masters and our long time members to provide something to add to this book so that we may publish a 150 years of Masonry for Steilacoom Lodge #2. We need your history or your memories of the past 50 years to make it possible. Yes, we have the Minutes of the Meetings, but that is not the full story; the funny things that happen in Lodge or at a Special gathering; the antidotes that come and go; the untold story of how the Moon Plaque was made and presented; anything that makes up our history as a Lodge! Please send your stories, articles, and other memories to me, by e-mail to Mike.Smitson@Comcast.net. Or by regular mail to my home at: 9826 Coral Dr SW Lakewood, WA 98498. Or to the Worshipful Master, Joe Fuller. Or to WB Tom Kingsbury.
Lets publish a great 150 years of Masonry of Steilacoom Lodge #2, of the Most Worshipful Free and Accepted Masons of Washington! -- The Editor.
